FAQ:Materials, Care & Rituals
I. Materials & Philosophy
Q: Why does Verdora work with stone and metal?
A: Verdora works with materials that bring weight, texture, and quiet presence into a space.
Natural stone — including marble, travertine, and onyx — gives each object a grounded, architectural quality. Brass and brass-finished metal add warmth, structure, and contrast.
Together, these materials create objects that feel substantial, tactile, and quietly enduring — made not only to decorate a room, but to belong within it.
Q: Will every marble or stone piece look the same?
A: No. Each piece is made from natural stone, so variations in veining, colour balance, mineral markings, and surface texture are expected.
Marble, travertine, and onyx are formed by nature over long periods of time. Their differences are not defects, but part of what makes each object unique.
The piece you receive will share the same overall material character shown in the photos, but its exact markings will be one of a kind.
Q: What is the difference between solid brass and brass-finished metal?
A: We describe materials as clearly as possible.
Solid brass pieces are made from genuine brass. They have natural weight, a warm tone, and may develop a deeper patina over time through air, touch, and use.
Brass-finished metal pieces use a sturdy metal core with a brass-toned finish. This allows certain designs to remain stable, weighted, and visually warm while supporting the overall form of the object.
Where a product uses solid brass or brass-finished metal, this will be stated on the individual product page.
Q: Why do some metal parts have magnetic properties?
A: Some designs use a dense metal core for added stability and weight. This helps the object feel grounded on a surface and provides the physical support needed for certain forms.
If a metal part is magnetic, it means it is not solid brass, but a brass-finished metal component. We list material details on each product page for transparency.
II. Care & Maintenance
Q: How should I care for natural stone objects?
A: Wipe gently with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth.
Avoid harsh cleaners, acidic liquids, abrasive sponges, and prolonged contact with water, oils, wax, or coloured substances. Natural stone is porous and may absorb marks over time.
For travertine and other porous stones, avoid soaking or submerging the object in water.
With careful use, natural stone will maintain its beauty while developing a quiet sense of character over time.
Q: Will metal parts change colour over time?
A: Solid brass may naturally darken or develop a patina as it is exposed to air, touch, and everyday use. This is a natural quality of brass and part of its long-term character.
Brass-finished metal pieces are treated with a protective surface finish to help maintain their tone under normal indoor use. To preserve the finish, avoid harsh cleaners, moisture, and abrasive contact.
Q: Are Verdora products heavy?
A: Many Verdora objects are made from solid stone or dense metal components, so they often have a substantial weight.
This weight is part of their presence and stability, but it also means they should be handled with care. Avoid dropping the object or placing it near the edge of a surface.
For exact weight, please refer to the specifications on each product page.
III. Candle & Incense Rituals
Q: How should I use candles or incense with Verdora objects?
A: Verdora objects are designed for quiet rituals such as candlelight, incense, and thoughtful daily placement.
Always use candles, incense, or heat sources with care. Place them only in objects specifically designed for that purpose, and avoid direct heat, ash, wax, or oils on natural stone surfaces unless the object is intended for that use.
Never leave a burning candle or incense unattended.
Natural stone and brass are durable materials, but they can develop marks over time. We see this as part of living with honest materials, but we still recommend careful use and regular cleaning.
Q: Can I use Verdora objects for other purposes?
A: Yes. Many Verdora pieces are designed to live beyond a single function.
A stone tray may hold jewelry, perfume, keys, candles, incense accessories, or small everyday objects. A vessel or holder may also sit quietly on a reading desk, bedside table, bathroom shelf, or entry console.
We design each object to be useful, but never purely utilitarian — it should bring material presence to the space around it.
Q: What if my order arrives damaged?
A: We pack each stone and metal piece carefully for shipping and provide tracking for every order.
If your item arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photos of the product and packaging. We will review the issue and help arrange a replacement or suitable solution.
Q: Can I return or exchange an item?
A: Please refer to our return policy for the latest return and exchange conditions.
Because natural stone varies in colour, veining, and pattern, natural variation is not considered a defect. If you are unsure about a material before ordering, you are welcome to contact us with questions.
