How should I remove dried wax without damaging the metal or stone?

To protect both the unsealed marble and the brass-electroplated metal insert, never use sharp metal tools or harsh chemical solvents to scrape away dried wax. We recommend placing the entire holder in a freezer for 15-20 minutes; the cold will cause the wax to contract and cleanly pop out of the metal cup without causing any scratches.

Will the heavy stone base scratch my furniture?
